ICAO DRONE ENABLE Symposium 2021 (DRONE ENABLE 2021), 13 - 15 April 2021, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil https://www.icao.int/Meetings/DRONEENABLE4/Pages/default.aspx ICAO has extended the deadline for States, organisations and individuals to submit proposals until 25 September 2020. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Fourth DRONE ENABLE Symposium will be convened from 13 to 15 April 2021 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The theme of the symposium is "Addressing Tomorrow's Challenges Today". ICAO's 4th Drone Enable Symposium will bring together key stakeholders from industry, academia, international organizations and governments to discuss the introduction of unmanned aircraft systems into traffic management and access to airspace. Best practices, research and experience with unmanned aircraft in the airspace will be discussed. On day 2 of the symposium, panel speakers who have submitted problem descriptions, information and further developments on unmanned aircraft system traffic management (UTM) will speak under the keynote theme.

ICAO has extended the deadline for States, organisations and individuals to submit proposals until 25 September 2020.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Fourth DRONE ENABLE Symposium will be convened from 13 to 15 April 2021 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The theme of the symposium is "Addressing Tomorrow's Challenges Today".

Most unmanned aircraft systems (drones) are powered by lithium cells and lithium batteries.
To ensure safety in airspace and during the transport of drones, there are requirements in the transport regulations for each of these lithium batteries.
E.g. they must be manufactured according to the quality management system described in the regulations and they must have passed the UN 38.3 test.
What exactly this QM program has to look like, we have put together for you under this link:
https://www.lithium-batterie-service.de/en/quality-management-program
What is tested in this UN Test Series 38.3 can be found here:
https://www.lithium-batterie-service.de/en/un-38.3-test-series
High-quality drones have lithium-ion-batteries with more than 100 Wh. For large lithium cells and batteries three more technical requirements need to be fulfilled.
+ Short circuit fuse
+ safety venting device or safety device against violent rupture
+ for cells / series of cells connected in parallel: protection against dangerous reverse currents
Before shipping or transporting a " large" lithium-battery, check with the manufacturer or supplier of the battery to make sure that all criteria are met.
Our Supplier Inquiry Form includes all necessary queries for the logistics process, including the further technical requirements for "large" batteries.
You can download and use it free of charge, provided that our copyright information in the footer is kept in place:

Since 01.01.2020 onwards a UN 38.3 Test Summary needs to be provided by the manufacturer and any subsequent supplier on request. We have included all required details of the UN 38.3 Test Summary in our Supplier Inquiry Form.

For shipping drones and their lithium ion batteries Lithium-Battery-Service offers you all information for preparing the transport in our checklist article. In addition to a checklist for transport preparation, our checklist articles also include all current markings and labels for each transport case and, if necessary, samples of the required transport documents.
